New Year’s resolution mistake: Aiming for the new me, hitting mini me
Every New Year, people decide, plan and try to change an undesired behavior or habit. This tradition aims to push people to set goals in order to improve their lives. Did you make a resolution for 2019? I have to warn you that more than 60% of these resolutions fail. That being said, I think you can do better this year by choosing the right resolution. Foremost, your goals should be SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound)? After choosing a small, manageable number, of smart goals you need to plan your steps to gain the new behaviors and ultimately new habits. Don’t forget to reward yourself for the wins along the way. Things will not always go as planned, so don’t be too hard on yourself: acknowledge what needs to improve and focus instead on what went right. Believe me, you can always get back on track by jumping over obstacles. To wrap it up, if you weren’t able to keep your resolution this year don’t underestimate the value of your experience; look at it as an experiment, and by trying twice and “trice”, you will eventually succeed. However, if you still don’t succeed, don’t wait another year for a new resolution: you can start tomorrow.
